Why we do it.
Fight For A Cause is a student-run, not-for-profit club at Queen's University. A student team runs it year round. One night a year, twenty fighters step into a sanctioned ring and the whole campus shows up.

The cause
Jack.org began here
In 2010, Jack Windeler, a first-year student at Queen's University, died by suicide. He was eighteen. In the months that followed, his parents, Eric Windeler and Sandra Hanington, made a decision that changed the conversation about youth mental health in this country: they started something in his name.
That something became Jack.org, now Canada's largest network of young leaders transforming how the country talks about mental health. Jack Talks put trained young speakers in front of their peers to share real stories. Jack Chapters organise on campuses and in communities to break down barriers to care. Jack Summits bring young people together to build what comes next.
The numbers behind the work are hard to sit with. Roughly 1.25 million young people in Canada are struggling with their mental health. One in four have seriously considered suicide, and eight percent have made a plan. More than half of them will never get the support they need.
Those are our friends, our classmates and our teammates. Jack.org started at Queen's, and every dollar FFAC raises goes straight back to it.
Why we do this
Queen's has a rare ability to turn a crowd into something bigger than itself. FFAC channels that energy into a cause that matters, and boxing is how we do it. Few things carry the same weight as watching your peers step into the ring after months of training, in front of a room on its feet.
Getting there means training, weigh-ins, discipline and nerves, the same things that make people talk honestly about how they're actually doing. That's the trade we're making: a loud night that earns money and attention for a conversation students usually avoid.
Year one proved it works. Four student fights, eight amateur fights, a pay-per-view broadcast, a sold-out room and roughly $10,000 for Jack.org, with no track record behind us. Year two is all-student, inter-school, and bigger.
